Violet Spider

Violet Spider was once a heavenly maiden that met [Zhu Bajie](/zhu-bajie), then-Admiral Tianpeng and fell in love at first sight. After the admiral's fall from grace, the Violet Maiden, either due to her desire to follow or for other reasons, followed him into the mortal realm as he had reincarnated as a hideous pig guai, while she became one of the spider guai sisters. By coincidence, after she and sisters capture the Tang Monk, she is reunited with Bajie after he sneaks into their bath. Bajie's presence, however, causes her sisters to inform their minions, and Bajie escapes before he returns with Sun Wukong and Sha Wujing to chase off the guais. When Wukong fought against the [Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master](/hundred-eyed-daoist-master), Bajie was instructed to kill the Violet Spider and her sisters. Though he killed her sisters, Bajie was unable to bring himself to kill the Violet Spider, and she was allowed to escape. In the years that followed, the Violet Spider remained in the [Webbed Hollow](/webbed-hollow), having given birth to six daughters in the meantime. Together with her daughters, they would often prey on male visitors, guai or otherwise. When the [Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master](/hundred-eyed-daoist-master) returns after the defeat of [Sun Wukong](/sun-wukong), he would pass a [special needle](/blood-stained-needle) for the Violet Spider to use in his next plan.

Once she rode the cloud chariot to the high terrace, Now she dwells in a secluded cave by the mountain base. The breeze by the frail bridge chills her delicate frame, Spring arrives, another bridal gown newly made. Upon reaching a cluster of huts in the forest, Tang Monk decided to seek alms for food. As he approached the village, he saw several women playing with balls under a pavilion. Invited by them into their home, he was suddenly thrown to the ground, tied up with ropes, and hung from a beam in the most uncomfortable manner. While climbing trees and branches, Sun Wukong turned back and saw a glimmer of light, realizing that his master must have encountered yaoguais. He summoned the local keeper for details and learned that the glimmer was from the celestial bathing spring, which had been taken over by seven spider guais. Knowing that they bathe three times a day, Sun Wukong transformed into an eagle, swooped down, and stole all of their clothes from the rack. Bajie, seeing so many women's clothes, persistently inquired and learned that seven guais were bathing. Overjoyed, he rushed to the spring. Without any hesitation, he stripped off his black garb and jumped into the water, transforming into a catfish guai. The spiders tried to catch him yet none of them succeeded. Recognizing one of them as an old acquaintance, Bajie mischievously swam around her legs. He floated and dived around her until he was out of breath and hazed. The guais, retreating to their cave, fetched some old clothes and called upon their seven adopted sons to guard the house while they headed to the Temple of Yellow Flowers to seek aid. Meanwhile, Bajie retraced his steps and reunited with the fellowship. Together, they defeated the insect sons and freed their master. Without delay, they hurried to the Temple of Yellow Flowers. The temple master, who had practiced alongside the seven spider guais, learned that Tang Monk was a monk of ten lifetimes' merits and that his fellow spiders were humiliated, prepared four cups of poisoned tea, intending to exact revenge on the fellowship and ultimately consume Tang Monk. However, Sun Wukong saw through the ruse, overturned the tea cups, and defeated the spider guais, forcing them to retreat. The Daoist master then engaged, prompting Wukong to order Bajie to eliminate the seven spider guais in his stead. Following his command, Bajie wielded his rake and struck down each of the spiders, sparing only the last one. Remembering their brief affair in the water, he hesitated and, with a final thrust of his rake into the ground, told her to flee for her life.

Violet Spider will attack the player with venomous bites, venom-tipped leg strikes and leg slams which can poison players. She can shoot silk from her abdomen to bind the player with in order to trap them. In her second phase, Violet Spider will unleash powerful flashes of light from her body to stun the player momentarily before attacking them, this attack can be interrupted with vessel items.

Violet Spider is located in [Webbed Hollow](/webbed-hollow)'s The Gathering Cave. From the Shrine, just proceed forward and you will reach a large area, where a cutscene will start. Upon its defeat, the Violet Spider will drop a [Spider Leg](/spider-leg), [Fine Gold Thread](/fine-gold-thread) x2, [Gold Tree Core](/gold-tree-core) and [Refined Iron Sand](/refined-iron-sand).

The violet spider was one of the spider sister demons that the Tang Monk encountered. The Tang Monk would come to their household to beg for alms, but they are able to uncover his identity and capture him to be consumed later. When Wukong senses something amiss, he sends Bajie to the spring where the sisters bathe, but the sisters easily take advantage of Bajie's lust and capture him instead. Bajie would manage to free himself before escaping to inform Wukong. Together, Wukong, Bajie, and Wujing defeat the spider sisters and their minions and rescue the Tang Monk. After their defeat, the spider sisters report back to the [Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord](/hundred-eyed-daoist-master) who disguises himself as a taoist priest. The sisters disguise themselves again as the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord acts hospitable when the Tang Monk's arrives, but Wukong sees through their attempt to use poisoned drinks against them and retaliates. Though the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord escapes after capturing the Tang Monk, the sisters are subdued by Wukong, who offers to trade them back for the Tang Monk. After the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord adamantly refuses, Wukong angrily kills all the spider sisters.
